Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
Are you available 24/7?
Yes. Our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so whenever you need us we're ready to take your call.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based at 144 Old Town, Broxburn, and cover Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Borders, with drainage services and maintenance throughout central Scotland.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. There are no call-out charges and no hidden fees. We give clear pricing from the outset and make sure you understand what you're paying for.
How much do your services cost?
Prices vary with the size and difficulty of each job. Get in touch and one of our team will give you an accurate quote and an estimated timescale.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. Once the work is complete and you're happy, you'll receive your invoice along with a minimum 30 day guarantee on the work.
Are your team qualified?
Our team are all CSCS registered and bring over 30 years of industry experience.
What is drain jetting?
Pressurised water is forced through a nozzle on a long hose and fed into the pipe or drain to give it a deep clean. It clears tough debris without digging or harsh chemicals.
Do I need a drain survey before building an extension?
If you're building over an existing drain, it should be surveyed before and after the work. Otherwise you may be liable for any damage found, even if it wasn't your fault. We also carry out surveys for Scottish Water.
Can a damaged drain be fixed without digging?
Often, yes. If there's suitable access, we can line the pipe with a smooth sleeve that covers the damage and restores full flow, usually in a matter of hours rather than days.
Can you find a buried manhole or drain?
Yes. Our electronic tracing equipment pinpoints from ground level where your drainage runs, including buried manholes and collapsed sections, with no need to dig.
What causes a blocked toilet?
The most common causes are too much toilet paper at once, toys or food flushed by children, sanitary products, cotton products, nappies and baby wipes.
What are the signs of a blocked drain?
Gurgling or slow sinks, baths or showers, washing machine water coming up in the bath or sink, water sitting in the garden, bad smells, and sinks or toilets rising and overflowing.
How often should drains be cleaned?
We offer planned maintenance every 3 months, 6 months or once a year. Regular cleaning keeps drains at full capacity in heavy rain and cuts the risk of blockages and smells.
What can your tanker service remove?
Large amounts of liquid waste such as grease traps, petrol interceptors, spillage clean-ups and large car park drainage. Our team is fully SEPA licensed and we provide duty of care documentation.
Can you deal with tenants for letting agents?
Yes. We can pick up keys or contact the tenant or landlord to arrange access, and carry out the work with as little disruption as possible.
Is a blocked drain my responsibility or Scottish Water’s?
In Scotland the property owner is usually responsible for the private drain that serves only their property, up to where it joins the public sewer. Scottish Water looks after the public sewer network. If neighbours are affected or sewage is in the street, contact Scottish Water; for a private blockage on your property, call us on 01506 346 028.
